Apprenticeship is a form of education that incorporates workplace training with technical in-school training. For over 20 years, AEC-IEC, has conducted apprenticeship training under standards approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, turning out the very finest of electricians into the Central Ohio workforce and beyond. Many of our graduates now serve the trade and community as electrical contractors giving back to their trade by employing and helping to oversee the education of apprentices now in training. What Makes the IEC Electrical Apprenticeship Program So Successful?
AEC-IEC Central Ohio, Electrical Apprentice Program, offers an exciting and unique training experience to help you gain life long trade skills, give you a competitive advantage in the job market and build self-confidence. We provide quality educational services, job placement referrals with local member contractors and opportunities to secure your future in the electrical industry. Earn respectable wages while you learn the skills of an electrician. AEC-IEC Electrical Apprenticeship Program uses on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction to move students from helper status to certified electrician within 4 years. All IEC Apprenticeship Programs are certified by the US Department of Labor’s Office of Apprenticeship and Training, this means students receive nationally recognized credentials as a Journeyperson (certified Electrician). AEC-IEC Apprenticeship Program offers job referral services with local electrical member contractors. During the program, apprentices receive well-balanced thorough classroom instruction. Some of the topics covered include residential, commercial and industrial wiring, blueprint reading, applied mathematics, electrical theory and design, motor controls, fiber optics installation and operation, fire alarm installation, programmable logic and many other electrical topics. In addition to classroom training, you may conduct electrical experiments in the lab where apprentices test the electrical theories discussed in class. Pay reviews are a requirement of a USDL certified apprentice program. AEC-IEC Apprentice Program is certified and apprentice pay is reviewed at certain intervals throughout apprenticeship to assure individual rates meet requirements. 87% of all electrical contractors are independent businesses, operating under the "merit shop" philosophy. Only government certified programs like AEC- IEC, Central Ohio Apprenticeship Program offers nationally recognized certification as a Journeyperson. You can attend and transfer to over 50 IEC programs throughout the United States. Once you successfully complete your apprenticeship and become an electrician, you will find many areas into which you may choose to advance, including estimating, foreman, project management, sales, consulting and even owning your own business.
